    All that is connected with the profession of a speech therapist. Profession speech therapist: where to study, responsibilities, important qualities - DescriptionsProfessions.rf

    There are many different professions in the world,

    And each has its own charm.

    But there is no nobler, more necessary and more wonderful

    What is the one who I work!

    November 14 - International Day of Speech Therapist - a professional holiday of representatives of one of the important professions. Speech therapists celebrate it working days in kindergartens, schools, someone in clinics, hospitals, centers of psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation and correction for children with impaired hearing and speech. Representatives of this profession are in demand in the education system, health care, social security.

    Many people have heard the word "speech therapist", but only those who had the opportunity to turn to a speech therapist for their help appreciated the importance of this profession.

    Speech therapy is the science of speech disorders, the methods of their prevention, detection and elimination by means of special training and education.

    The development of speech therapy began only in the XVII century, when European teachers began to develop methods for teaching children with hearing problems. 1933 can be considered the year of birth of speech therapy in Russia. It was during this period that teachers increasingly began to think that speech defects are mostly the result of psychological problems that can and should be dealt with.

    Since the main function of speech is communication, any speech disorder necessarily affects a person’s communication with other people, especially when, as a result of the wrong pronunciation, speech sounds sloppy, ugly, slurred. The speech defect always attracts the attention of others, distracts from the meaning of what has been said, tires the interlocutor, causes him, sometimes even an unconscious negative reaction. Sometimes you have to deal with the fact that a poorly speaking child is ignored by peers, they do not play with him, because they do not understand what he is saying. The child cries, refuses to go to kindergarten, begins to show aggression. And at school it will be even harder if you do not help him in time. Bad speech can prevent a person from choosing a profession and professional growth. Right speech always sounds more convincing than disturbed, so people who can speak well achieve great success in different areas of life.

    As you know, there are no ideal people, and each of us has a small, though small, flaw: someone has problem skin, and for some, the subject of discontent is the shape of the nose or hair color. Of course, most external flaws can be, if not corrected, then disguised with the help of cosmetics or clothing. However, there are also such shortcomings that can not be hidden, they can only be dealt with with the help of specialists. One of these drawbacks are speech defects, which speech therapists help to get rid of.

    Every preschooler encounters a speech therapist in his life, if not for correcting speech, then for diagnostics, which is carried out when a child graduates from kindergarten to school. Speech therapists are also approached by adults who, for one reason or another, have lost the ability to speak correctly, or those who were not helped by a speech therapist in childhood. What is this specialist? Take a closer look at the profession "speech therapist". This profession is noble. It's nice to know that speech therapists help people every day. And the help is not only to teach a person how to pronounce sounds and speak correctly, by and large, getting rid of the complexes and giving a chance for better education, employment and even family life. After all, the manner of speaking is the basis of communication between people and plays an important role in any relationship.

    Of course, not everyone can be a good speech therapist. For people of this profession, it is important to have such qualities as: patience, perseverance, focus on results, ability to find an approach to different people, the ability to be persuasive. The profession of speech therapist refers to the professions only mental labor. In the process of work, the activity of sensory systems, attention, memory, activation of thinking and emotional sphere is important. Speech therapists are erudite, curiosity, rationality, analytical mindset.

    Such qualities as: irritability at the slightest pretext, indifference to people, excessive shyness, excessive disgust, arrogance, inability to work systematically and intolerance to hard work - are unacceptable in the work of a speech therapist. Therefore, in our profession remain, and then people with the most positive traits of character fall in love with it.

    Of course, all these personal qualities will not help if the speech therapist does not have a huge store of knowledge behind his shoulders. And not only in the field of speech therapy, but also in pedagogy, medicine and psychology. After all, the cause of speech problems can be both psychological and physiological disorders, and a speech therapist must not only be able to identify this cause, but also recommend a specialist to a person, cooperation with which will allow him to completely get rid of the defect. For example, if a speech problem has arisen due to a congenital defect of a speech apparatus, then the problem can be eliminated only by means of surgical intervention with subsequent correction of speech.

    I am convinced that the profession of speech therapist is the best in the world. The words of the great Cicero explain the essence of my profession in the best way possible: “Our special duty is that if someone especially needs our help, we must make every effort to help this person.”

    The choice of my profession was not accidental, deliberate. I started working as a speech therapist, having already had experience of upbringing with preschoolers. By nature, having a delicate ear and sense of language, she noticed that my preschool children incorrectly pronounce one or another sound, cannot reproduce the words of a complex syllabic structure, feel free to speak at matinees. I wanted to help them all. I myself tried to correct my son the sound "p" and I did it! You should have seen the delight of my Bulatik! All this determined my choice: “I will become a speech therapist!”. And for this, it was necessary to study again, leave the sons at home for a husband, leave for the session and study, study and study again. Many years have passed. Over the years, I have gained experience sharing with colleagues and students. But our profession is such that one must constantly be aware of all the scientific and practical achievements in the field of speech therapy, and therefore I continue to master the profession, learn something new, unconventional, applicable to improve my work with children. I am interested to participate in professional groups on the Internet, where there is an opportunity to exchange views with colleagues from all over our country. For active participation, explanatory work, the administration of the group “LOGOraduga” noted me with a letter of thanks. It's nice to know that my work benefits not only children, but colleagues as well.

    Practice shows that the problem of improving the personal and professional competence of a teacher is most effectively implemented in the active participation of a speech therapist in the work of the methodical association.

    Each meeting of the methodological association carries a specific theme, but special attention is paid to improving the forms and methods of correctional work with children. How much time, effort, patience is needed to show an open exercise at the height! My colleagues do it!

    I believe that in the creation of a friendly and united team a large role is given to the head of the methodical association. For more than ten years now I have headed the methodical association of preschool speech therapists in our city. And I always note that my colleagues are happy to meet each other. We are ready to share the available work material, to help each other. No one hesitates to ask for advice if some working moments fail. Of course, together I think it is easier to solve. That's why we and speech therapists: always active, initiative, ready to talk for hours about our children.

    During the long years of work, many children have visited not only my classes, but also in my heart. I am sure that positive results in work can be achieved only when you love your work and those with whom you work, so we experience everything with our children together: success and grief, joy and disappointment. Each lesson for me is a small step forward, leading to the future success of the child, to his happy life.

    I had the opportunity to work as a speech therapist in a group for children with visual impairments, then with children with severe speech disorders. And work has always been with dedication, with the use of special methods and techniques in the work, taking into account the individual characteristics of children. The work was carried out in close contact with an ophthalmologist, a typhoid teacher, and group educators. I have the warmest memories of the time when we were doing a common thing - helping our children to become smarter, healthier, happier.

    For several years now, every morning I gladly hurry to my favorite kindergarten “Rodnichok”, I go to a spacious room, which has everything necessary for the implementation of the correction process. In winter, it is warm there, and in summer, when it is hot, fresh and cool outside. Children are happy to attend classes in a speech therapy room.

    Recently, after a long absence, Gleb enthusiastically said: “I missed the smell of the cabinet!” Indeed, as they say: “The theater begins with a hanger”, in our case, we can say that the relationship with the child begins with a cozy cabinet and a speech therapist who will make everything possible to correct speech disorders in a child.

    Of course, our children know that I do not always smile, sometimes I am strict, demanding. Not all children are pleased to perform articulation gymnastics, especially when the language "does not listen." At the beginning of work, children watchfully look at the instruments for setting sounds. But we are not only speech therapists, but also psychologists and artists. The child experiences a "magic wand" on the doll, then on me. And then, you see, and the fear passed. So in the form of a game spend classes.

    In order for a child to be interested in performing complex tasks, I consider it imperative to create a situation of success. What is difficult to get is always very valuable. The child is happy that the “accordion”, which had not been obtained in the last lesson, has been remarkably successful today. At this moment we are merging in our arms! And, if, after long efforts, the sound came out, then the demonstration of success in front of the whole group and the stormy applause of girls and boys are provided. A lot of strength and patience should be applied to bring the sound to the child’s speech. With constant work, systematic homework, the child develops not only speech, but also positive character traits are formed, such as: accuracy, responsibility, ability to bring the work begun to the end. These qualities are needed as a doctor and the seller, as a teacher and driver. And it is very important to lay in our children before entering school.

    Of course, it does not always work out the way we want. Some of the children are happy to take classes, and some are looking for a reason not to go. A few years ago, the girl Polina went to the kindergarten, who very often cried. And there were many reasons for this. The girl had dysarthria and polymorphic disturbance of sounds. Work with her was immense. She categorically refused to go to my classes, crying. During a spiritual conversation, it turned out that, in her opinion, I was not beautiful enough. I respected her request to become beautiful and asked for advice to help me transform. She gave a detailed description of what I should be. The next day I appeared before her in turquoise shoes, a dress with polka dots, with a red flower in her hair and, most importantly, in yellow earrings, which I specifically bought. The only thing that didn’t work was to grow hair in a day to the waist. But, we agreed that I will try. One should have seen the eyes of my “capricular”, when she described in detail the use of burdock oil to improve the quality of the hair! Eyes shine, speech is built on the sounds of early ontogenesis (the rest is not). My Polina smiled and we went to the speech therapy room by the handle.

    We see that children are all different, everyone needs an individual approach. So, a speech therapist needs to know well not only the method of work, but also to be an artist, a psychologist, a doctor of children's souls. Such lines come to mind: “He is a teacher, a teacher and a psychologist, a philologist, he is a linguist, a researcher, a methodologist, an innovator, he is a diagnostician, proofreader and expert. He is an educator, doctor, defectologist, actor, speaker - this is a speech therapist. ” Of course, I love my profession! I love all the children with whom I once worked, both current and future, with whom I still have to work. I also love parents of children. In the process of work, most of them become close and dear.

    It is known that no pedagogical system can be fully effective if it does not involve a family.

    Therefore, in my activity I single out the main direction - working with parents. After all, the task of a speech therapist is to help parents realize their role in the child’s development process, equip them with certain methods and techniques to overcome speech impairment, fill the homework with children to assimilate and consolidate their knowledge with concrete content.

    As a rule, parents get used to the speech of their children and do not notice any shortcomings in it, therefore they do not help them to assimilate the correct speech. Speech therapist needs to explain to parents how important it is to shape the child’s speech, explain and show them what the speech therapy work is, emphasize the usefulness of reasonable requirements for the child, the need to consolidate what has been achieved in kindergarten. For this purpose, various forms of work with parents of children are used.

    Of all the forms of work, I prefer subgroup and individual consultations when there is “live” communication with parents. Subgroup consultation is convenient in that my presentation is based on the verbal conclusions of the children. Accordingly, the tasks that will be solved during the correctional period are different. We are particularly concerned about speech therapists in children with a general underdevelopment of speech, who should receive correctional care in the context of speech groups. But due to the lack of a sufficient number of speech groups, children with ONR are forced to attend the log posts of kindergartens, the possibility of which is not designed to completely eliminate severe speech disorders. Parents of children with such a conclusion, we aim at long-term, painstaking, joint work. Another undeniable quality of a speech therapist is the ability to adapt to the prevailing conditions. And all this is dictated by the desire to help our children.

    It’s impossible to imagine our work without numerous individual counseling, which deals with the successes or failures of a particular child. I am pleased to invite parents to attend the shows of methods of production, automation of sounds. At the same time, the parent is also trained in my tasks, and he feels that not everything is so easy and simple. We have to thoroughly explain the causes of speech disorders in a child. Someone has a low phonemic hearing, someone has articulation organs that are not ready for setting sounds. And I always warn about the consequences if I do not promptly correct the shortcomings of speech in a child. So the parent begins to approach the correctional process consciously. And this is the key to our common success!

    After our conversations, parents begin to more carefully carry out my assignments for home notebooks. If everything is done as it should, the child for his diligence put an asterisk in the notebook. Just today, I appreciated how Vadim, close to the text, retold the phonetic story “Sparrow on the Roof,” while unmistakably pronouncing the automated sound “p.” Daddy and I did not forget to note the effort, writing: “Daddy is young!” Vadim said with delight: “When I come home in the evening and show dad what you wrote, he will be very happy!” I am glad that this evening will be in Vadim’s family good mood and he no longer wants to move to the throat "p", with which we stubbornly "fought". How can you not love our profession if our everyday life consists, although small, but victories!

    I see the results of my work always. My home, work, schools, where my graduates study, are located in one microdistrict. Therefore, children have to see often. In the process of communicating with them, I hear a speech free from mistakes. And it makes me happy. I meet parents who greet with a special smile, understanding that our joint work was not in vain. I know that I could help them. It matters to me how my graduates go to school. When elementary school teachers praise them, my heart is filled with joy for the fact that there is also my participation in the success of the children. And this makes us professionals confident, calm. I am happy in my profession because I live in an atmosphere of love and creativity.

    Very soon my graduation will be ready. And again I will hear words of gratitude from my parents. And one of the children will read the poem:

    She is like a sunny dawn

    She is undoubtedly the best magician.

    She is a speech therapist

    She is a clumsy speech enemy.

    And the children began to speak

    Everything is clear, clearly, correctly.

    For this it would be worth handing

    She has a letter from the Minister!

    And, as always, the eyes will be filled with tears of happiness for the children, for ourselves, for the fact that our soul, thanks to the children, will be forever young!

    I can confidently say that my profession is the best in the world!

    The essence of the profession of speech therapist is quite simple - it is the correction of diction in children and adults, the elimination of its shortcomings, including stuttering, burr, lisp, etc.

    Such a specialist helps to correct speech with the help of special exercises, massage and other methods that improve articulation. The function of a speech therapist may include work with many speech disorders, but according to the representatives of this profession themselves, it is better to concentrate on one direction. Let's say, choose to treat stuttering or eliminate dysgraphia and dyslexia (problems of writing and reading).

    Who is a speech pathologist

    Speech disorders are not only in healthy children (without problems with hearing, vision and intelligence). There is a separate category - “heavy” children, and special specialists - speech pathologists — work with them. They develop not only articulation, but also the cognitive activity of children in general - memory, attention, perception, thinking, and many other abilities and skills.

    Work places

    As a rule, the position of a speech therapist is provided in educational and medical institutions:

    • in kindergartens;
    • in hospitals and clinics;
    • in specialized centers for psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation and correction, where hearing and speech impairments in children are treated.

    An alternative option of "employment" - the opening of its private speech therapy cabinet.

    History of the profession

    The beginnings of speech therapy appeared in Europe in the 17th century in the framework of deaf-and-dumb pedagogy, a branch dealing with the problems of deaf and hearing impaired children. In the presence of hearing, speech dysfunctions were not sought to be treated, considering them to be an exclusively physical problem. If they did, they were treated only by medical methods.

    Only from the middle of the XX century, the problems of articulation began to be considered from the point of view of psychology, which led to the development of speech therapy as a science and a separate profession.

    Responsibilities of a speech therapist

    The main duties of a speech therapist can be summarized as follows:

    • customer inspection and identification of features of their speech development;
    • statement of the logopedic diagnosis;
    • determination of methods and methods of treatment;
    • conducting individual and group classes on speech;
    • development of exercises and "homework";
    • assessment of learning outcomes for a certain period of time.

    Also, a speech therapist may be engaged in maintaining the reporting documentation and the development of teaching aids.

    Requirements for a speech therapist

    Standard requirements for a speech therapist are:

    • higher speech therapy (or defectology) education;
    • work experience, including in a certain direction (with children, with adults, with patients with cerebral palsy, with patients with a neurological profile, etc.).

    In rare cases, a speech therapist is required to have an author's technique.

    With the development of modern technologies in the field of medicine and psychology, a very interesting profession is becoming very popular - speech therapist. Let's find out what kind of specialist it is, what tasks it solves and what are the advantages of working as a speech therapist.

    Who are speech therapists?

    These are specialists who correct speech defects by resorting to various remedial techniques. They work with both children and adults. For example, very often elderly people who have suffered a stroke lose their speech abilities, in such cases one profession becomes irreplaceable - a speech therapist! It is he who draws up an individual treatment plan, according to which such speech imperfections as burr, stuttering or lisping are eliminated. Almost all young children have similar problems, as they grow up, many of them pass by themselves, but some need special help.

    How did this profession come about?

    Speech therapist is a relatively new specialty, it appeared about 50-60 years ago, when people stopped believing that problems with pronunciation were related to physical disabilities. Western doctors were the first to determine the nature of the manifestation of speech defects and from the middle The twentieth century began to use psychological methods to eliminate them. Modern techniques allow to achieve very impressive results in a short time.

    Profession Speech Therapist: Features and Social Significance

    It is necessary to make out what type of profession this specialty belongs to. It is believed that a speech therapist is a person who combines a talented teacher and an experienced doctor. He must accurately determine the cause of the speech defect and correctly compose effective exercises and techniques to solve problems. For this, a professional speech therapist should thoroughly know how human physiology works, in particular, the structure of the speech system and the pathologies associated with it. In addition, a good specialist should have special skills, for example, the ability to do to relax the muscles of the larynx and other organs of the pharynx.

    It can be said without exaggeration that speech therapist is the profession of the future. After all, it is he who teaches people how to speak correctly, and speech is the most important component of the communications of all mankind: thanks to it, we can communicate with others, share thoughts and transmit information.

    Often a person who has speech disorders, feels inferior, he may have serious complexes that adversely affect his entire life. That is why the profession "speech therapist" is indispensable, these specialists eliminate many speech defects, teach how to pronounce sounds correctly, and thus practically change the fate of a person. In addition, they also provide psychological assistance: help to integrate into society, adapt a person to social life and contribute to his development in terms of self-improvement.

    What qualities should a speech therapist have?

    In essence, a speech therapist is a kind of teacher who must exercise great patience and understanding for his students. The most important traits in character are love for children, patience, emotional restraint, calm, curiosity, perseverance, resilience and endurance, because the results of the work done often make you wait a long time. Some people have to deal with more than 2-3 years to achieve visible improvements.

    If it is easier to work with children, because they learn quickly, then things are different with adults. Few are able to admit their shortcomings and go to a specialist. For this reason, a professional speech therapist must be able to find an individual approach to everyone, be able to tactfully figure out the problem and, without affecting the patient's feelings, provide primary counseling. Consequently, the specialist does not hurt to know at least the basics of human psychology.

    Speech therapist must be responsible, because he has no right to make a mistake in the diagnosis. If he incorrectly identifies the problem and assigns an ineffective treatment method, then this can turn out to be a real tragedy for patients: speech defects tend to lose their ability to correct over time, so it is very important to eliminate the shortcomings in time. Over time, it will be much more difficult to get rid of them, which is why so much responsibility lies on the speech therapist.
