The university was founded on October 14, 1916. This is the first university in the Urals, one of the founders of the Association of Classical Universities of Russia and the Association of Leading Russian Universities. Today, the university maintains and strengthens the status of one of the centers of the country's intellectual and spiritual life and is one of the leading universities in Russia.

In 97 scientific laboratories Perm University observe the Earth from space, develop navigation systems, conduct experiments to obtain biomaterials for the manufacture of drugs, and do much more.
