An article from the publisher “ Northern tale»

No matter how simple the ancestors of the Slavs lived, they never shied away from material well-being, appreciated wealth and abundance in the house. Even though their idea of what “wealth” was somewhat different from the modern one, there were no meaningless symbols that could not bring real benefits in life.

First of all, labor was considered a sign of prosperity among the Slavs. Any work from field work, then evening women's gatherings at a spinning wheel, to helping children with household chores was considered honorable and highly valued. And the Slavic Gods for their diligence gave people their favor and the fulfillment of simple desires.

Therefore, during almost all Slavic holidays, our ancestors asked for the patrons of the clan of prosperity, well-fed existence.

And our great-grandfathers, or rather great-grandmothers, knew many ways to attract forces into the house that make life comfortable and joyful. they always knew how to find the mercy of the Gods.

Bread is the head of everything

Bread has always been an important part of the well-being of the Slavs. This was not forgotten even in winter, when the field work was all over. A small bundle of wheat ears in the most prominent place in the house promised its inhabitants a rich harvest for the next year. In order to realize these aspirations, which the whole family talked about on long cold evenings, the grains from this symbolic bouquet were necessarily added to the grain that was sown in spring. At the same time, the spring field work was necessarily carried out in a joyful state of mind with thoughts about the health and life of their loved ones, and not about what benefits can be obtained from a rich harvest.

When bread was baked in the house, the door was firmly bolted. The reason is that an accidental traveler who wandered into the house during this sacrament could take with him the spirit of satiety and leave the family in poverty. For this reason, rubbish from the hut was never swept out into the street. Cleaning was carried out from the threshold to the stove, in which the garbage was burned - so everything that was in the house remained with the owners.

And they didn’t let the cat into the new house, as it is now, but the first to bring in the bread. It was impossible to sit on the table at which they ate and on which the bread lay - one could not inflict a greater offense on bread.

Slavs knew how to keep prosperity in the house

Every woman absorbed the great wisdom of female Goddesses and great-grandmothers from childhood.

She knew that the refreshing scent of mint would not only bring relief on a hot summer day, but also attract those forces that would not allow her to stay hungry in a cold winter. In secret places in the house, bags were hung with this simple weed - it created a pleasant subtle aroma that protected from hardship and poverty.

Each family member was given their own spoon. At the same time, a man - the head of the family should have more than a wife or children. For the same reason, each child was given (and is now, forgetting the root cause) a spoon. She had to stay with a person all her life - this guaranteed the help of the elders and the Gods in achieving material well-being.

The need for clean plates and licked spoons was also associated with eating - if you didn't finish eating, then the excess and the “excess” from the family can be taken away.

Special rituals were performed at each season to attract wealth.

In early May, to attract prosperity, a woman, turning her face to the sun near an aspen in the forest, turned to Mokos:

    Mother Makosh!

Green greens grow out of you,

    The world blesses with harvest!

I truly praise you, I honor you,

Kind of the shore, I instruct you for good.

Bless us (family name) with your gifts!

Mother Mokosha, I'm sending my soot,

Let it grow in sprout, live in harvest.

As a mouse does not gnaw a coin,

    The worm does not exude.

So that no one jinxed my wealth.

As the earth grows green with grass,

so prosperity goes into the house, the good grows

    Glory to Mother Makosha!

The publishing house "Northern Skazka" still has a lot to tell its readers about, teach how to properly celebrate the holidays of fertility, which is the basis of a well-fed life. Signs and rituals: the Slavs cannot discuss any money matters after sunset, they were not supposed to work and clean up in the dark - have come down to our days, but we have forgotten about their root cause. Those who are interested in the traditions of their ancestors will always find a source of knowledge in the books collected bit by bit in the northern regions of Russia.
