From June 1 to 12, Moscow will host a grandiose historical festival "Times and Epochs", which will bring together 10 thousand reenactors and participants from all over the world.

12 eras will be reproduced on 30 street and park grounds in different parts of the city. Among them - the Iron Age, Antiquity, Peter's time, 1812, the Crimean War. At the beginning of summer, everyone will be able to make sure that Moscow is the center of international historical reconstruction.

Shopping arcade

At the shopping arcade of Times and Epochs, guests will find copies of historical artifacts, dishes and delicacies of the past. It is curious that in the Middle Ages few knew how to read, therefore, instead of the usual text signs in front of each shop or shop, they hung distinctive signs: a horseshoe meant a smithy, a green bush tavern, and scissors meant a barber's place of work.

Station Podmoskovnaya

On June 1, an old coal-drawn train will arrive at Podmoskovnaya station, and it will carry guests from different eras. This will open the historical festival “Times and Epochs. Meeting". At Podmoskovnaya (this is the only operating railway complex in the capital of the early XX century), travelers will be met by the head of the station. Together with the reenactors, he will make a commemorative entry in the festival "Book of Times" with a quill pen.

New Arbat

Throughout the festival from June 1 to June 12, on Novy Arbat, everyone will be able to witness the reconstructions of medieval battles, evaluate the skill of fencing with long swords, swords and foils, as well as hear the history of military codes and tournament rules. You can plunge into history on weekdays from 16:00 to 21:00 and on weekends from 12:00 to 21:00.

Kuznetsky Most

Fans of Russian cinema will be welcomed from June 1 to June 12 on Kuznetsky Most Street. The "Bauer" zone of the "History of Cinema" site will be opened here. Everyone will be able to visit the festival wardrobe and try on the outfits of the film stars, stylized as the 1920s. Here you can learn how to do hair, apply professional make-up, and then pass the casting for the role of a silent movie hero. All this and much more awaits Muscovites and guests of the capital at the address: st. Kuznetsky Most, possession 6/3.

Museum-reserve "Tsaritsyno"

On June 2, in the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, you can plunge into the era of the rulers who made the Russian Empire one of the leading European powers - Peter the Great and Catherine II. The main event will be a large-scale costume show with equestrian quadrille. The program is based on Catherine the Great's magnificent historical Carousel of 1766. Also on the site, guests will be able to learn more about the military deeds and exploits of the early 18th century, plunging into the atmosphere of Peter the Great.

Moscow Historical Festival “Times and Epochs. The meeting "continues! On August 27 in "Kolomenskoye" the battle of Russian archers with the troops of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth will take place. A full-size prison will be built for the battle - a 17th century border fortress.

August 27 at the site "Zingaro" in Kolomenskoye reenactors will present to the guests of the festival an episode from the Russian-Polish war of 1654-1667. The tsar's army will arrange a border battle with the Polish-Lithuanian forces, this large-scale event will take place within the framework of the festival “Times and Epochs. Meeting". To recreate the life of the Russian army, a full-size prison with a posad will open on August 25, where archers, reitars, gunners and military artisans will settle.

Ostrog is being built on the model of the famous Albazin fortress of 1665-1681. This is not a decoration, but a full-fledged model in real size. It is being developed with input from experts in archeology and wood architecture. The jail weighs 245 tons and consists of 1115 logs. On an area of 900 square meters, there will be a clerk hut, a chapel, an arsenal, a stable, a parade ground for drill exercises. Archers with a "fiery battle" will occupy positions on two 10-meter three-story towers, a stern centurion will train recruits in military wisdom. In the handicraft settlement, craftsmen will show visitors wick, cannon, and bullet work.

The festival will be held in Moscow from June 1 to 12, 2017 "Times and Epochs. Collection". Theme this year's festival - historical reconstruction, its possibilities and achievements.

"Times and Epochs 2017" change the format. Now this is not just an event in Kolomenskoye dedicated to a specific period. The festival becomes a grandiose convention of 6,000 reenactors from all over the world, who will represent the eras from Antiquity to the 20th century for 12 whole days. "Times and Epochs. Collection" will become a real exhibition of the achievements of the reconstruction economy, a platform for the exchange of ideas and experience.

"Times and Epochs 2017"- these are 30 sites. 6000 participants and 12 eras.

Festival idea- to collect in the capital all the best from the world of reconstruction from around the world. Different eras will intertwine on the streets and in parks into a single historical action. Muscovites and tourists will walk in the center from one era to the next, travel to parks to watch the battle of the 17th century, the battle of legions with barbarians, or the camp of the Russian Imperial Army.

"Times and Epochs 2017" will begin on June 1 with arrival at the Podmoskovnaya station retro trains with reenactors representing all time periods of the festival.

Starting point a great journey through times and eras will become festival information center on Tverskaya Square... The pavilion recreates the interiors of a Moscow hotel of the late 19th century. As in any decent hotel, guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere, information about the festival venues, maps, a program of events, explanations and assistance from staff speaking several foreign languages. The pavilion will recreate the atmosphere of the Silver Age: staff costumes, fashion magazines of those years on the counter, a pianist at the piano, an antique gramophone, which the porter turns on several times a day, almost Blok strangers in fashionable toilets of the time, discussing futurist poets on the next sofa.

In different parts of the park "Kolomenskoye" the camps of Peter's soldiers and Roman legionaries will be located. On Tverskoy Boulevard visitors will meet teams of reenactors from all over the world. They will constantly replace each other, either leaving to participate in park festivals, then returning for informal communication with colleagues and guests. On Kuznetsky Most you can look at the everyday life of the characters of bygone eras, who will settle in transparent honeycomb houses, and watch archaeologists processing objects found during excavations in Moscow. On Vostochnaya Street there will be a park of medieval siege machines. New Arbat will transform into a battle arena where the best medieval warriors will come together in duels. On Chistoprudny Boulevard guests will be transported to the second half of the 19th century, to the picturesque Sevastopol promenade. A Revolution square will become for Muscovites a country dacha of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.

Persimfans on Tverskaya Square
An unusual concert-reconstruction on June 12 will also take place on the stage of the venue on Tverskaya Square.
To mark the 95th anniversary of the famous Persimfans Orchestra - the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, which at the beginning of the 20th century, in search of a new sound, first began performing without a conductor - the Moscow Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic" will perform with a reconstructed musical program (also without a conductor). For the attention of the public - the masterpieces of Vivaldi, Ravel and Piazzolla performed by 60 wonderful musicians. The concert will take place from 19.00 to 20.30.

Festival of Times and Epochs. What is it?

The Festival of Historical Reconstruction has been held in Moscow since 2011. This is the only such event that is held in a metropolis: as a rule, reenactors gather on the battlefields. The main site of the festival has always been the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. Each year, the participants focused on one era: in 2011 - Ancient Russia, in 2012 - the Moscow kingdom, in 2013 - the Middle Ages, in 2014 the main topic was the First World War, in 2015 - Antiquity, in 2016 - the princely strife of Ancient Russia.

World scale

“Times and epochs. Collection ”is the main historical festival in Russia and one of the largest in the world. This is an exhibition of the achievements of world reconstruction. Fighters and traders, musicians and artisans, military engineers and stuntmen from all over the world bring their best practices to show to guests.

Failure of the template

The Times and Epochs series began in 2011. The festivals were held in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve and each year they were dedicated to a new historical theme. “Times and epochs. Meeting ”breaks the pattern. When does it pass?

New Arbat will be transformed into a battle arena where more than a hundred strongest fencers from different eras will come together. In four rings you will find the “shield-sword”, “bastard sword”, “one-handed sword”, “two swords” tournaments. Both halberdists and knife fighting specialists will show their skills. You will see the fights of the superstars of istfech, whose fame is thundering all over the world, professional full-contact fights according to the rules of WMFC and the competitions of the units of the early Middle Ages.

At the fair near the rings, you can buy copies and stylizations of medieval artifacts, make an old hairstyle, take pictures in armor and try your hand at fencing on tyambars.

Multi-century

When does it pass?

Within the framework of "Times and Epochs", for the first time in Russia, a competition of historical projects is held, where both Russians and foreign citizens participate. From June 1 to June 12, presentations of 16 of the most interesting nominees of the competition will be held at four venues on the Boulevard of History.

The main condition for participation: the project must have reliable historical content. 68 projects were accepted for consideration and submitted to the expert council. 13 historical parks, 10 festivals, 9 museums and exhibitions, 7 recreated crafts and technologies, 5 books, as well as such unusual ideas as the reconstruction of a shipwreck near the African coast, a theatrical tavern-bakery and a flying copy of the airplane of Bleriot XI apply for prizes.

In addition to presentations of projects, here you will see locations that do not fall into the main themes of the festival, for example, dedicated to the Second World War or Ancient Russia.

Early 20th century

When does it pass?

At Tverskaya Square, guests will plunge into the atmosphere of the Silver Age. The Living Room pavilion will recreate the interiors of a Moscow hotel of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The audience will get acquainted with the multifaceted culture of Russia of this unusually poetic time. The information center will also be located here, where you can learn about all the events of the festival, relax to the music of a grand piano and an antique gramophone. This is the departure point for tourist groups to the festival grounds. The information center staff speaks Russian and English.

Costumed heroes walk along the square, on the open stage the Bulgakov House Museum-Theater shows performances about the life of Moscow bohemians. Nearby there is an interactive exhibition of antique musical devices, including a working gramophone of the early 20th century, which belonged to the maid of honor Alexandra Feodorovna.

Young guests will not get bored in the atmosphere of the Silver Age - every day from 13:00 to 16:00, a children's school of fine arts works on the site.

In the pavilion "Kitchen" you can taste the dishes of the most fashionable restaurants in Moscow of that era. Estimate the results of the work of culinary reenactors!

When does it pass?

Here you will plunge into the atmosphere of suburban leisure of the XIX - early XX centuries. Country balls, shuttlecock and croquet games, charades await you. You can take pictures in historical costumes and learn to ride an old bicycle. An experienced chauffeur will give you a ride in a vintage car, and a photographer will capture you in the image of the early twentieth century.

Multi-century

When does it pass?

Military history miniature is a common name for playing with soldiers and making models of warriors, equipment, fortresses.

You can return to childhood and plunge into history through the game, loved by both the great military leaders of antiquity and ordinary boys of all times and countries.

Get familiar with the evolution of uniforms, tactics, engineering and fortification of different states using clear material.

Two "sandboxes" will be placed on the boulevard - this is how tactical tables are called, on which you can model the terrain, build and destroy fortresses, and play out historical battles. Each day will be dedicated to its era of wars - from antiquity to the 20th century.

Every day the owners of the toy soldiers will talk about their collections and show the works of old masters. Feel like a warlord fighting in tactical board games, learn to paint miniatures and cast tin soldiers.

Around the clock

The site is dedicated to the education and development of Kitai-Gorod. The basis of the site is five models of this area in different eras from the XII to the XX century. Two more models will show the lost buildings of the district: Nikolskie (Vladimirskie) gates and the Aptekarskiy Prikaz. The connecting part of the street will be the "time line" drawn on the asphalt. It will contain a retrospective of events and milestones in the history of the area.

In four stereoscopes on Nikolskaya one can see three-dimensional photographs of the old Kitay-gorod.

Festival of Times and Epochs. German settlement

When does it pass?

You will get acquainted with the life of the Kadashevskaya Sloboda, which was located here in the 18th century. This is the street of Petrovskaya Moscow, arranged in a European manner. Peter I demanded from his subjects a new way of life, tastes, fashions, occupations. And many willingly responded to his demands.

There will be houses in a section showing the interiors and everyday life of Russian and foreign citizens of the 18th century. In the Dutch house you can see the life of a major official, at the mint - learn about the monetary reform of the young emperor and mint a full-fledged Peter's ruble. At the entrance to the "promenade" the heroes of the Crimean War will raise the St. Andrew's flag. This artillery position will become a revived embodiment of the Roubaud panorama, where the defenders of Sevastopol are captured at the moment of a break between battles.

A photo exhibition will open behind the bastion, because the middle of the 19th century is the time of the first photographers. You will see photos from the trenches of 1853-1856 and from the ruins of Sevastopol. Nearby there will be a memorial complex in honor of the defenders of the city.

Walking from the memorial, you will plunge into the atmosphere of the post-war Sevastopol of the 1880s –1900s. The city square of this time will be recreated here - with a musical and theatrical gazebo, a photo studio and a summer cafe. Here you can learn to knit sea knots, ride a skiff, play croquet and serso, read posters of the late 19th century and take pictures with a strict policeman.
