The essence of Glen Doman's methodology

2. Classes are first carried out once a day, then their number is increased.
3. One card should not be shown more than 3 times per day.
4. There is no need to require the child to repeat the names, unless he himself wants to do it.
5. It is best to stop playing before the kid loses interest.
6. Gradually, you need to add new sets, and remove well-studied ones.
7. Shows should be systematic, only in this case you can achieve results.

How to make Doman Cards yourself?

We suggest you download Doman's cards and print them for your child. It is better to do this on matte (so that there is no glare) paper with a density of 250-300 g / m2 or glued to cardboard. It is advisable to laminate ready-made cards, then they will last longer, and they can be used in other educational games.

How to play

1. Compliance (from 9 months)

2. Find a picture (from 1 year old)

We print cards in duplicate. We cut one, the other not. We give the child a card with 4 images, we take out the cut ones one by one, tell and show how these cards relate. For the first lesson, 4 will be enough, then we complicate it.

4. Remember where (from 1 year old)

We lay out several cards in front of the child (depending on the complexity) and ask them to remember them for 5 seconds, then turn them over with our shirt and ask one by one where which toy is hidden.

Doman cards for the development of memory

The main trainer for memory development according to Doman's method is "Intellect Bit". It is the various variations of this technique that are used for early development with flashcards. The technique consists in short-term demonstration of cards (one card is shown no more than 2 seconds!) with clear sounding of the image, or brief fact about the image. You will say that during this time it is not possible to see anything and this is true for an ordinary person. But this technique is just aimed at developing the speed of the brain's reaction. Therefore, at first, the child will really not understand anything, with regular exercises, according to Glenn Doman, the child should develop a reaction speed and photo memory.

How to study with Doman's cards with images:

• • • We demonstrate the first days of classes 3 times a day, 10 cards in one lesson, then gradually the number of cards increases to 120 ;
    • A card that has been shown 30 times is considered learned and is replaced with a new one, i.e. You need to keep a record of how many times which card was shown.
    • In fact, when the number of cards is increased to the required volume, every 10 days you will need 120 new cards (4 minutes - 1 lesson). This is not a lot, not a little 1,440 cards per year, but with the advent of the Internet, purchasing cards has ceased to be a problem - there are a lot of sites offering to download or view cards online. Though psychologists and other child development specialists disapprove lessons with kids on the computer.

In addition to the Glenn Doman method, there is another method promoted by the Clever company, which also promises parents high results from showing cards from birth. At first glance, it may seem that Glen Doman's technique is similar to the technique from Clever Doman-Manichenko, in fact, this is not at all the case! In the method of Glenn Doman key point is a short-term display of the card, for the development of the speed of the brain's reaction. The Doman-Manichenko technique involves viewing cards in a comfortable mode, as well as games on the ability to operate with the objects depicted on the cards and their properties. At the same time, the results promised by the methods differ in scale:

• in the first case, the technique promises to endow the child with photo memory (very ambitious results that have not been confirmed by any serious scientific research);
• in the second case, the child's vocabulary will be replenished by the number of cards in the purchased sets and the number of studied properties of the objects depicted.

Doman cards for teaching reading

There is an opinion that Glenn Doman recommended teaching children to read from birth - this is not entirely true; in his publications, 1 year is considered the best age for learning to read. What's more important is the control of the knowledge gained, it implies the baby's ability to speak, because already on the 7th day of training, the baby must “read” the first words aloud. Reading cards should be large - 50 x 10 cm. The text should be red. Modern cards besides text on back side contain pictures, but in the original method of Doman, pictures on cards are not required for reading.

Lesson schedule:

1. The first day of the lesson includes 4 shows of 5 words - nouns. The intervals between classes should be no more than 30 minutes;
2. The second day of the lesson includes: 3 shows of 5 words with cards that were shown yesterday and 3 shows of 5 words with new cards. At the end of the day: 6 lessons - learning 10 words;
3. The third day of the lesson includes: 6 shows of 5 words with cards that have already been demonstrated on the 1st and 2nd day of classes and 3 shows of 5 words, with new cards. At the end of the day: 9 lessons - learning 15 words;

Subsequent days: as a result, you should increase the number of studied words per day to 25. In one lesson - 5 cards. Each card entered into the display is shown 3 once a day. Thus in a day 15 lessons... And do not forget the cherished 30 minutes between studying the same cards - this is a necessary condition for achieving a result. After studying the word within 5 days, it must be removed from the impressions, since during this time the word should already be remembered. To make it easier to control the process of replacing cards, Doman recommends signing the start date of impressions on the card in small letters. This is how difficult the process of learning to read according to Doman's method is! Perhaps you decide to search the Internet for easier recipes for reading cards and you will definitely find them in large quantities ;-). Only I immediately warn you, the classes that I described are 100% consistent with the original exercises of Glen Doman from his publications.
