Kavabanga Depo Kolibri or KDK (KDK) - this is how the three songwriters from Kharkov call themselves. While most of the hip-hop party argues who is the real rapper, Ukrainian guys are actively working, releasing at least one album every year, not forgetting to shoot clips and tour the cities of Russia, Belarus and, of course, native Ukraine ...

Composition

By the name of the band, it is logical to assume that there are three performers. In fact, it is. Nevertheless, the performers themselves consider an irregular participant in their performances Artyom Tkachenko, known as DJ Probass (aka Yoto), as part of the group, as well as their concert director Maxim Nifontov and public relations agent Alexander Ilyin.

The KDK group was formed in 2010. It was then that Dmitry Lelyuk (Kolibri) decided to follow the example of his old school friend and take up rap. Lelyuk wrote the lyrics, took out a more or less suitable instrumental and decided to record. Since Dmitry did not have a licensed audio editor, and he did not want to use an unlicensed one, the guy began to punch through information about the availability of the appropriate software from friends and acquaintances. So he went to Alexander Plisakin (Kavabanga).

Plisakin was interested in Lelyuk's ideas and offered to try to work together. Later, Alexander informed his pen-friend Roman Manko (Depo) about this. Suddenly it turned out that Manko also occasionally traded in writing couplets - purely for himself, on the table, as they say. As a result, the guys recorded several test songs at Plisakin's house.

The demos were liked not only by themselves, but also by some of their acquaintances, whom the guys threw off to listen to and evaluate the recorded material. Having received positive reviews, Lelyuk, Plisakin and Manko decided to get out to a professional recording studio. So they went to Alexander Kalinin (aka rapper NaCl) and to his studio IMPROVE Rec, where they recorded their debut album.

The fact that all three performers are completely different from each other in style, manner of performance, temperament (choleric Sasha, phlegmatic Roma, sanguine Dima), and even more so in character, played a role: the guys' versatile tracks shot and made them famous and beloved by the large audience.

Music

Critics and fans unanimously claim that the songs of the band are written in a lyrical manner and are filled with the appropriate energy.

The first album of the trio Kavabanga Depo Kolibri was released in 2013. It was named “Endless Noise” and consisted of 12 compositions. The hits of the debut disc were "City and Fog", "Girl", "Nine Lives", "Mood Zero" and, of course, "Amphetamine". The last song at one time sounded from each speaker, in fact, it brought the collective popularity.

The tour began immediately. Full halls, joyful fans (mostly girls), a sincere atmosphere and a lot of impressions - this is how you can briefly describe the first concerts of the guys. By the way, at the same time, the first interviews began, during which Kavabanga Depo Kolibri announced the upcoming new disc, as well as the upcoming release and distribution of their own merch.

The group's second album was released the following year. The new release was called "Self-Invented Paradise" and, like the previous one, consisted of 12 songs. The hits of this disc were "Love", "Take her by the hand" and "Divorced us".

In addition to the release of the album, 2014 was remembered for the guys by the release of their first clips. First, the legendary track "Amphetamine" was filmed. This is the only video that was presented on the channel of their then label StarPro, filmed in the same year, "Scratch", "Kill" and "Dismantled Us", as well as all subsequent videos were posted on the group's personal YouTube channel.

Without breaking tradition, the guys released their third release in 2015. Unlike the first two albums, "KDKin" already consisted of 20 tracks. Fans singled out the following compositions separately: "Sneakers", "Another dose", "Take me away", "To the ground" and "Sunny Bunny". Critics noted that, although the general atmosphere of the songs remained the same, the style of performance, as well as the technical preparation of the material (mixing and mastering) reached a qualitatively new level.

In the same year the group shot videos for the songs "Petards", "Inside Out" and "How Much". But the next year, Kavabanga Depo Kolibri presented an unexpected surprise to the fans by releasing two albums at once. The first came out the mini-album "Come with us" (7 tracks), and the second - the full-fledged "18+" (10 tracks). The hits of Kavabanga Depo Kolibri this year were "Shots Are Sounding", "No Excuses", "You Need Another" and "Colored Dreams". A video was shot for the song "18+".

In 2017, the tradition of the annual release of albums was not interrupted - the collective released the disc "Why do we need stars". The sixth album consisted of 13 songs, including "Let's forever", "We are not sleeping, we are lying", "Why do we need stars" and "It's not time to fall." The last of the listed compositions was transferred to the screen in the same 2017.

It is worth noting that Kavabanga Depo Kolibri throughout their career collaborated mainly with the same people - beatmakers Arseniy Proshin and Denis Bluda (Danim Productin), director Anton Stavitsky and graphic designer Maksim Asabin. Today, few of the performers can boast of being together with the group, except that their own sound engineer Alexander Kalinin (NaCl).

Immediately after the New Year celebrations, the musicians rushed to please their fans by posting in all their social networks the news about the upcoming release, the presentation of which will take place on February 2, 2018. The title of the seventh studio album has not yet been announced.

In the meantime, Sasha, Roma and Dima are reading books, watching films, playing on consoles, taking pictures for their Instagram profile (in addition to the general account, each of the trinity has their own) and in the same spirit are resting before the start of the next tour.
