    All the regular projects of our library are related to the book in one way or another: children make illustrations in the art studios, at game evenings we often talk about this or that book. But such activities do not make children real readers - we understand this very well. Reading is taught in the family, I am absolutely sure of this. The point is different.

    Children in our library get the opportunity to communicate and develop in free space. We create an environment where you are always smiled at and never humiliated - this is already a lot. Our books are not "mandatory" in the form of school reading lists in the summer and are not mumbling at literature lessons. These books are read by children freely, of their own free will. A benevolent environment relaxes the child - he begins to look around. He takes one book from the shelf, another ... Or picks up felt-tip pens and begins to draw. Or get to know people around you.

    We kind of say, “Hey, hi! We're glad you're here. Cartoons - at five, master class - at six. You see, normal people also read books: different books, comics, magazines - new, delicious ... You can read together or one at a time, on the couch or on the floor. Read what you want. Then we can play board games. And here we do “homework”. Go talk. It's all right, it's all right."

    Valentina Ivanovna Sitnikova
    Head of the Children's Library of the MCBS im. M.Yu. Lermontov

    In recent years, libraries have assumed the role of leisure institutions. You can't say it's bad. It is important to determine how competently this is done and whether it is in demand.

    The children's library is aimed at education in a broad sense. We try to come up with various activities that could arouse interest in reading, knowledge, communication, development of creative skills, etc. Our slogan is “Reading. Communication. Creation". Reading comes first, but we are not limited to it.

    Of course, the tactic “watched a cartoon, took part in a master class, a competition - and immediately signed up for the library and started reading” does not always work. But how many children became our readers precisely after such “non-bookish” acquaintances! All of our entertaining and educational meetings introduce some topic, only slightly revealing it, so that the children remain “hungry”, so that they would like to find information or an answer to a given topic on their own. The library does not impose anything (must read - and that's it!), but slightly acquaints, involves in the process, providing freedom of choice.

    Children's book cafe "25 kilo"
    Our children's library participates in the Library Night, in the Night of Museums, in the Day of Dostoevsky, in street festivals - wherever it can. Therefore, the idea to participate in the Restaurant Day was met with enthusiasm. We decided to go to work on Sunday and in the middle of chilly February to please our readers with delicious food and hot tea.

    They began to remember books about food: "Mishkin's porridge", "Omelet with sugar", "Chocolate War" ... And I remembered Viktor Dragunsky's story "25 kilos", in which Deniska Korablev drank a large bottle of lemonade at a children's party in order to weigh exactly 25 kilos and get a prize. That's how we called our Children's Book Cafe - "25 kilos".

    But we didn't weigh anyone - we forgot. Just fed goodies and books. They served pancakes with Carlson's homemade jam, tried waffle hearts from a book by Maria Parr, ate cookies at an Alice in Wonderland tea party, ate Mrs. Corry's licorice fingers from Mary Poppins. They cooked everything themselves the day before and at night (I personally baked waffles in the morning).

    We drank tea, coffee and the same Deniska lemonade. The magic Samovar of Daniil Kharms was also present on the table - but not to pour boiling water out of it, but exclusively for communication.

    About a hundred people came to the Restaurant Day: children, parents, grandmothers, familiar students ... We were advised on new recipes and new ideas. All the treats swept away to crumbs!

    In August, we again participated in the Restaurant Day: the 25 Kilo cafe represented the Hunger Games. This means that food had to be earned through various challenges... but no one went home hungry!

    Irina Batueva,
    Head of the Department of the Children's Library of Foreign Literature

    I think many of my colleagues will agree that a library can be both a club and a place for meetings, communication, recreation, etc., if the context for all this activity is a book, a text. Of course, we cannot force those who do not want to read. But to make sure that, being in the space of book culture, children and adolescents feel the book as an occasion for joy, we are quite capable of. It is difficult for me to judge whether some completely “non-bookish” events work to “pivot” children to reading (there are no such events in our library), but they also create a positive atmosphere in the library, and therefore library services. If we talk about whether it works or not, then it seems to me that everything connected with the process of education cannot have an instant effect. Librarians, like teachers and parents, work for the future.

    Competition "Watch and translate"
    In 2011, in the Children's Library of Foreign Literature, a "translation workshop" project was devised, where a child of 7-9 years old, not knowing the language of the original foreign picture book, tried to recreate the story solely from illustrations. (Frankly, the "translation workshop" was invented to make some use of the beautiful picture books in languages that are rarely taught in schools, such as Dutch and Swedish.)

    Then the project continued to exist as a competition "I watch and translate" within the framework of the international festival "Days of Europe". In September 2013, our library took part in this festival for the third time and, together with the Danish Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Sweden, held a European literary competition for schoolchildren aged 9-11.

    Children, not knowing the text, wrote impromptu essays based on Danish and Swedish picture books. The task was very difficult, many books were unwilling to succumb to instant interpretation. However, the guys, thanks to their imagination and the help of Alexandra Ornfelt, an assistant from the Danish Institute of Culture, and Alina Gritskova, cultural and media coordinator at the Swedish Consulate, managed to create very witty "translations". The winners were awarded at the European Fair, which took place in the Anichkov Palace.

    In the autumn of 2014 we plan to hold this competition again.

    Of course, the library is first of all the territory of reading. And the children's library is a multifaceted world in which a comfortable environment is created for any reader. This is the place where he learns to interact with the outside world. Unlike entertainment clubs, we do not teach him to dance, sing, etc., but simply offer conditions for self-realization, including through a disco in a book environment. And my experience confirms that it helps to turn young visitors to the book and reading.

    "Sparrow" discos
    We believe that the library has long ceased to be a library in the strictest sense of the word, that is, a repository of books. Moreover, the library of a small town. She has changed, and now you can come here for a long time. Read a children's book with mom and dad. Consider her. Come up with a story together. Play with other children. And that's why dancing here is a must! Dancing, playing, having fun together, children of different ages create their own images. They create their own story, their own story. Today Pippi Longstocking is with them, next Saturday - Malvina and Pinocchio, then there may be Moomintrolls. Or maybe everyone will go to Hogwarts...

    On Saturdays in our library there are "sparrow" discos - "Topotushki". We noticed that it is interesting to read poetry, play, play out fairy tales to the music and dance. A special delight in children is caused by an explosion of balls during the game "Balls-stishariks". Immediately, the kids recall the famous lines of Agnia Barto's poems about Tanya, who cries loudly, and about the Bull, sighing on the go.

    The age limit for disco participants is 10 years. For older kids, it should already be something else in terms of game program and music.

    The music is selected by volunteers-hosts, taking into account the theme and wishes of the participants from past discos. Children learn dances by repeating the movements of the volunteers, and at the next disco they are very happy that they can already dance on their own. Baba Yaga and Masha dance to remixes of popular Russian folk songs. But the favorite dance of the kids is still the “Dance of the Little Ducklings”.

    Leaving the disco, the children go to choose books with their parents, and even if they came for the first time and are not yet enrolled in the library, they always have a desire to take books to read. Moms then tell educators, and educators - to other mothers, that such discos - with games, dances, magical heroes, poems and riddles - are an element of the child's creative development. Quite possible. The main thing is that children feel at home in the children's library.

    Modern readers have a hard time when they encounter in the book the realities of two hundred years ago. In my opinion, one of the tasks of the children's library is to make it easier for children to perceive classical literature.

    One way to do this is to dive into the era. At the same time, a schoolgirl in jeans turns into a young lady in a magnificent ball gown and herself becomes the heroine of that very story - this is how the world of literary heroes, their experiences and actions become closer and more understandable. And the experience gained will allow her in the future not to feel uncomfortable with the book, in which she will meet many incomprehensible things and events. Whether our heroine goes to the library for a new book or not - time will tell, but we can definitely say that her attitude to the book will change forever.

    In April 2014, in the large hall of the old mansion, which houses the Central City Children's Library. A. S. Pushkin, a literary costume ball dedicated to the work of A. S. Pushkin and M. Yu. Lermontov (the hero of the year this year) was held.

    The idea to hold balls appeared a long time ago: the special atmosphere of the 300-year-old St. Petersburg mansion, and the books that made it possible to learn a lot about holding balls, and, of course, the interest of library readers in this event, favored this.

    Preparing for the holiday, we studied descriptions of the balls of the 19th century, the traditions of their conduct, learned dances, read about secular entertainments and manners of behavior accepted at that time.

    The participants were high school students - readers of our library and cadets of the Nakhimov Naval School, who prepared in advance for the ball and got acquainted with the life and culture of that era.

    During the ball, it was necessary not only to show their ability to perform ancient dances (polonaise, mazurka and gallop), but also to know the work of poets well. In between dances, the presenter talked about the traditions of holding noble balls, about who was invited to them and how the preparations were carried out, and the guests of the ball took part in literary games: they solved charades, played scenes from M. Yu. Lermontov's drama "Masquerade" and the novel A.S. Pushkin "The Captain's Daughter", wrote miniatures using a certain set of archaisms, inserted missing words into the poem "Borodino" and tried their hand as poets in Burim.

    Ancient dances, beautiful outfits, music and poetry allowed the children to better feel the time and atmosphere of that era in which the poets lived, which undoubtedly helped them not only better understand the work of Pushkin and Lermontov, but also, we hope, fall in love with him.

    Mira Vasyukova,
    Head of the Children's Library of History and Culture of St. Petersburg

    From my point of view, the children's library has never been just a storehouse of books. Her activities have always consisted of a complex of individual and mass work with all categories of readers. Believe my almost forty years of experience in the children's library: as before, and now in our profession there are people who are creative, energetic, active, and there are others. There are libraries that you want to visit again and again, but there are also those where the first visit becomes the last. It all depends on specific people.

    It is curious that almost always they wanted to make something else out of libraries - they invented and created “reading centers”, centers of some kind of education, etc., etc. As if the library, in essence, is not a center of reading or aesthetic and different upbringing. Not so long ago I had to speak at a seminar on the role of libraries in the preservation of cultural heritage. I called my speech as follows: “Should we call a cat a cat, or What makes us attractive to our partners.” The main conclusion is that we are attractive because we are a Library, that the main thing for us is books and knowledge about them, the ability to work with them, that our enlightenment and educational activities are based on books. And it doesn't matter what media the book is on, although in children's libraries, of course, paper books are preferred.

    The children's library is essentially a very living organism, responsive to changes in the surrounding world. It became problematic in the country with leisure institutions - libraries expanded the scope of activities, there was a need for educational programs for parents with young children - libraries responded. But only all these innovations should not be instead of the main activity, but along with it, additionally. And the book should remain the main one in any kind of activity. After all, our main goal is to help the child grow up as a cultured and educated person who can gain knowledge and, no matter how pathetic it may sound, feel and sympathize.

    In conditions when modern school education is practically not oriented towards the book in the process of education and upbringing, the role of the children's library in promoting books and reading grows incredibly. There is no doubt that this should be done in an entertaining, exciting, interactive, diverse way. It is important to remember why and for what purpose - then circles, and theatrical performances, and concerts, and games, and master classes, and competitions, and balls are appropriate in the library.

    There is a very important point: when a child and an adult first enter the children's library, they must see and realize that its possibilities are almost limitless, but the main thing in it is book treasures. It is up to us whether they understand it or not. It also depends on us whether they find their way to the children's library or not. And it also depends on public opinion - public attitudes towards libraries. For many years it was at least lenient. There was a period when we were habitually condemned: they say, outdated, poorly equipped, passive. And who condemned? Someone who usually does not go to libraries or went once a long time ago. Now sometimes it's just breathtaking when I read or learn about the undertakings of many, many children's libraries. As a rule, all this is for the sake of children coming to the library and becoming readers.

    I am sometimes asked the question: “What is missing in your library that could surprise and delight readers and staff?” I used to answer: “We have everything, like in Greece.” And at some point I realized what we really lack. Puppet theater! So the first dolls appeared in the library - characters of folk tales, then a lion cub - a symbol of our library, then Santa Claus ...

    Once, the Puppet Theater of a Fairy Tale arranged a huge exhibition in our library called "Puppet Theater - the Creation of Worlds", where artists, directors and actors spoke about the creation of a puppet show, from conception to implementation. And the visitors could “communicate” with the puppets, who had recently played their performances and seemed to have run into the library for a short while to have some rest.

    The next theatrical joy was given to us by the famous puppeteer, playwright and director of the puppet theater Nikolai Yuryevich Borovkov. He is a frequent visitor to our library. Together with him, sometimes dolls appear before our readers, which he himself made for his performances. In his hands they are absolutely alive.

    When a well-known playwright and my good friend Andrey Zinchuk appeared in our library last year with a new idea, what we had been going for a long time happened - the theatrical puppet project “Tales of our city”.

    The essence of this project is to show the children not finished performances, but the process of their creation, to arrange a kind of game in creating a performance right in front of the audience and with their direct participation. By the way, anyone can become a spectator, as we try to post announcements of all events as widely as possible.

    All fairy tales of our project are connected with St. Petersburg. After all, our library is the Children's Library of the History and Culture of St. Petersburg.

    The author of the first fairy tale - "The Tale of an Angel" - People's Artist of Russia Andrei Yuryevich Tolubeev. The book itself had arrived at the library a couple of years earlier. The magical characters of the fairy tale appeared right in the hall from a large magical suitcase. And it all started with the traditional puppeteer gymnastics, which this time was held together with small spectators. Then the Globe appeared before the eyes of the children and on it - the Swedish fortress Nyenschanz, almost real sea and castle appeared, well, the main characters - the cat Brutus and the mouse Aleksashka.

    And then the audience was able to get to know all the characters and artists better. At the end, everyone got gifts - books from the Detgiz publishing house. The audience and performers are looking forward to the next meeting.

    If you think that people go to the library only for books, you are hopelessly behind the times. The modern library is a whole cultural center where you can not only read, but also engage in various circles, visit exhibitions, concerts, performances, lectures, clubs. And if this is a children's library, then you can also play a variety of games (from board games to computer games), sculpt, draw, dance ... In a word, any child - even one who does not know a single letter yet - will be able to find something to do there. soul. And, importantly, most of all these most interesting events are held in children's libraries for free.

    A century and a half of history

    Children's libraries have grown out of adults, more precisely - from their children's departments and "reading rooms". And the first "full-fledged" public children's library was opened in 1878 in Moscow on Sadovaya Street by book lover and editor A.D. Toropov (unfortunately, it soon ceased to exist). It contained about 1,500 books from the collection of Toropov himself, and for a small fee anyone could visit it (as they said in the 19th century, a “subscriber”). Pre-revolutionary children's libraries in general, as a rule, were created on personal enthusiasm and private donations. Some of those "pioneers" still exist: among the oldest in Russia are the Yalta Children's City Library (since 1899), the Lensk District Children's Library (since 1911), the Moscow Children's Library named after. Brothers Grimm (since 1913), Rostov Regional Children's Library. V.M. Velichkina (since 1914).

    Today, books for young readers can also be found in adult libraries. In any of them, according to the regulations, children's funds must be at least 30%, and all visitors under 14 years old are recorded there free of charge on the passport of their parents. But it is in children's libraries that a special environment is created, where they try not only to give out books and textbooks, but to develop, teach, educate and, of course, entertain.

    The world's first children's picture book was published in 1658 by the Czech priest and teacher Jan Komensky and was called "The World of Sensual Things in Pictures". Written in Latin, it was translated into many European languages, and for many years it remained the only non-religious textbook created specifically for children. The book was illustrated with 150 engravings with scenes of everyday life, images of plants and animals.

    What do children's libraries offer today?

    Of course, books. The newest, most popular and interesting. The undisputed leader in this regard is the Russian State Children's Library (RSDL), the largest library of children's literature not only in Russia but also in the world. Here you can find almost any book for children published in our country, thousands of books in foreign languages, sheet music, as well as all domestic children's magazines and newspapers. The novelties of book publishers are the first to get here, and to make it easier for readers and specialists to navigate this stream, reviews and catalogs of book novelties regularly appear on the library's website.

    Today, many libraries offer services of electronic catalogs and online access to some publications, and in some places books can even be ordered with home delivery. For example, in the Moscow Central City Youth Library. M.A. Svetlova ("svetlovka") such free assistance can be used by large families and people with disabilities.

    Audio and video materials. In any children's library, you can take home or copy CDs with music and audio books, vinyl records, videos (for example, with interesting educational materials). In libraries, all this is not thrown away, but carefully stored or digitized.

    Photobank Lori

    In the children's library you can both study and communicate

    Developmental activities. Almost every children's library has children's clubs and studios: from English lessons and theater skills to chess and Lego construction. But the "highlight" of children's libraries, which can only be found here, is literature classes and book clubs. At such lessons, children are taught to read thoughtfully and discuss what they read, they are introduced to the history of the creation of books, they show themed films. For example, in the Moscow "gaidarovka" - the Central City Children's Library. A. P. Gaidar - several literary studios work at once: for primary school students - "Russian Speech Workshop", for elementary and middle grades - "Literary ABC", for young writers and poets - "Literary Laboratory for Gifted Children".

    Play space. In large children's libraries for the youngest there are rooms with toys and climbing frames, and for older children special games are organized - quests, quizzes, contests. So feel free to come to the library with the whole family - there will be something for everyone!

    Exhibitions, meetings with writers and artists. Large children's libraries hold them regularly and free of charge. For example, the Moscow Regional State Children's Library has been hosting exhibitions of illustrations by the outstanding artist Ilya Glazunov since March.

    We enrolled our eldest son Andryusha in the children's library near the house when he was 4 years old. The child no longer had enough of his own books, he constantly wanted new ones, and it was very expensive to buy them endlessly, and there was nowhere to put them. Our grandmother mostly goes to the library, on average once a month, she picks up and brings books. You can take no more than 5 books for one child, and when the youngest appeared, books were needed for her too. So my daughter was enrolled there a year ago, and now we take 10 books for two.

    Marina, mother of 7-year-old Andrey and 3-year-old Vera, readers of Children's Library No. 9 (Moscow)

    Performances, theatrical performances. They can be organized by young participants in theater studios at the same libraries or schools, or they can be with the invitation of professional artists. For example, Moscow theaters periodically perform children's performances at the Russian Children's Library.

    Communication. You can find friends by interests and chat on exciting topics not only on forums and social networks. Libraries have a variety of clubs for children and teenagers, which give them irreplaceable live communication with their peers. The choice is huge - let's say, there are three such clubs in the "svetlovka" alone: young writers "I and everything", music lovers and bard songs "Orpheus", as well as the Orthodox youth club "Dominant".

    Psychological help. Libraries provide free consultations of child psychologists, defectologists, speech therapists, and teachers. All this is organized free of charge within the framework of municipal social programs. For example, in the “svetlovka” teenagers are taken by career guidance specialists who will help them decide on their future profession. And "gaidarovka" is actively working with disabled children and their parents, helping them with consultations and special literature.

    Digital Services. For libraries, work in this direction is very important, although this may cause a smile among residents of megacities who do not part with smartphones. But in the outback, the library is still often the only place where you can access the Internet for free or for a small fee, print or scan a file, and make a photocopy.

    We have been going to the library since the age of 3, about once a month, and Maxim always chooses books himself. First of all, he goes to the comic book shelf - he loves Disney cartoons. I'm not exactly delighted, but we agreed that we would take the second book with some kind of "sensible" one. At first I drew his attention to fairy tales, but he suddenly became interested in educational books for schoolchildren. We took Levitan's book about stars and planets for testing - my 3-year-old surprisingly liked it! Now he always chooses something about nature, animals, children's encyclopedias - good, now there are a lot of good colorful books for kids.

    Despite the abundance in bookstores and numerous electronic resources, the children's library with its unique atmosphere remains a place where readers of all ages are still drawn. And do not think that this luxury is available only in big cities. Take a closer look at your local library - behind its modest doors there will surely be a lot of interesting things for both your child and you.

    April 2 was International Children's Book Day. Have you been to the library for a long time? Do your children have a library card? A small overview of how libraries have been transformed in the era of multimedia space.

    “Reading is a window through which children see and learn about the world and themselves” V.A. Sukhomlinsky

    Nowadays, you can read anywhere - on a computer or tablet, in an "e-book" or in an application on your phone. Who is more comfortable. But there are people who simply need to feel the rustle of paper, inhale this smell of new or not very pages, because each book smells in its own way, and the smell is its story. And there is nothing to talk about children - only books! Real, magical, fabulous, bright, old, new, hard, soft - so different, and so loved. Of course, we all read to children and try to instill a love of reading. It is interesting, while we are reading at home, what is happening at this time in the libraries of our city? Maybe they have long since become ghosts of the past? Some kind of room for the protection of silence, or actually a place to store books? After all, "library" literally means it. Thank God that this assumption is far from the truth!

    I enrolled my child in one district library and learned a lot of new things. It turns out that the library of the 21st century is a kind of creative cognitive space, a cluster for inquisitive children and active parents, not lagging behind, but keeping up with the times, a place for reading, meetings, interactive activities. Many libraries host activities for children, reading lessons, festivals, workshops, meetings with writers and many other events. And all this is completely free. Of course, in order to keep children interested in reading, libraries had to be reborn. Many even refurbished their rooms, making a stylish design of reading rooms for children, and for the little ones - a comfortable play area, where it is not necessary to sit straight at a desk, but you can lie down on a green carpet, like on grass, and feel at home in an atmosphere of comfort. and friendliness.

    Each district has a central children's library and branches. Practically in all educational educational activities are carried out along with creative activities. We have chosen the most, in our opinion, interesting children's libraries.

    Based on the results of work in 2015, this library was recognized as the best library of the Centralized Library System of the Petrogradsky District. And for good reason. Here you can visit:

    • children's art studio for children aged 3-12;
    • club of reading, communication and creativity "Little Prince" (3+);
    • game developing club "Attic of board games" (7+);
    • fairy tale lovers club "Hour of a fairy tale" (0+).

    Classes in clubs and art studios are free.

    Also on Wednesdays is Fairy Tale Hour. Fairy Hour is a great opportunity to get acquainted with a new fairy tale or other book story together with the librarian and other children. After reading - time for communication to try to understand what was read, discuss, talk about illustrations.

    Library staff try to choose fairy tales for the hour, both good old, time-tested children's classics, and little-known, but no less good books, as well as new items in modern children's literature, which are also very popular and loved by children and their parents.

    On Wednesdays, the hour of the fairy tale is held by the library artist and the head of the art studio, and therefore, for reading on this day, they try to choose truly book masterpieces, not only in terms of text, but also in terms of illustrations.

    On Fridays there are classes for the youngest readers from 1.5-2 years old.

    The library implements a socio-cultural project, the goals of which are:

    • creation in the Central District Children's Library of the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Institution "Central Library of the Petrogradsky District" of a space that provides children and adolescents with opportunities for education and self-education, self-knowledge, "smart leisure", creative realization, development of communication skills, etc.;
    • the revival of the library as a social institution that provides informational and methodological assistance to parents, guardians, educators and teachers in numerous issues related to the upbringing of children and adolescents: psychology and pedagogy, protection of the rights of the child, health, physical, spiritual and moral, patriotic, aesthetic education and etc.
    • attracting children and adolescents to books and reading, fostering a culture of reading;

    If you are looking for smart and entertaining leisure for your child, then you are here.

    This library is more than books. It opened to readers in May 2013. On two floors of the library - tens of thousands of books for children, teenagers and adults, as well as interesting activities, board games, exhibitions, performances.

    Not only a child can enroll in the library - a person of any age, from any district of St. Petersburg, can become a reader. Here is a large fund of adult literature, a significant collection of literature on psychology and pedagogy. The nursery subscribes to about 100 magazines for children, teenagers and adults.

    The Visual Library project, which is designed for young readers, has been implemented here.

    “In publications for this age group (approximately up to 10 years old), there are much more vivid illustrations than text, and thus a natural visualization of the book occurs, an unobtrusive accustoming to reading and books. In addition, some editions have an audio function: the books themselves read the books,” reads the library website. The fund is replenished every 2 weeks.

    The library hosts a free consultation with a psychologist once a month, as well as regular master classes. In the process of mastering a new skill at master classes, participants will learn not only how to make this or that thing, but also the history of its occurrence, its features and, of course, get acquainted with the collections of books dedicated to this thing.

    Another modern library in the Nevsky district invites young readers to join the club of little princesses, where they study creativity, etiquette, choreography and plasticity. You can also visit the theater club and sewing courses for Tild dolls.

    One of the leading activities of the libraries of the Nevsky district is local history, therefore, thematic lectures, conferences, and excursions are periodically held.

    Fox Nose Library

    In the 1930s, there was a school here, which was popularly called "Kruglovskaya" - by the name of the former owners of the house. Today, this old building with a central spiral staircase houses a library after a major renovation.

    There is a club for children "Fox Nose", within which children can attend free reading classes, as well as use the game library at any time.

    The children's libraries also have a religious reading section, where the lives of the saints, the Gospel, the Bible and other literature are presented. Therefore, we can say with confidence that modern libraries for children are not only a socio-cultural complex for children and parents, actively involved in reading, but also a spiritual and educational cultural space in the full sense of the word.

    And finally 10 Rules for Children's Reading, which will help maintain a child's interest in books from the French writer Daniel Pennac:
    1. The right not to read. Nobody likes to do what they are forced to do. If you want your child to hate reading for life, force him to read, threaten, use punishment.

    2. The right to jump. Do you ever miss descriptions of nature in long novels? Ever wondered how an adventure book would end? Didn't you look a hundred pages ahead to see if your favorite hero would survive? Allow all this to your child.

    3. The right not to finish reading. The same. Not all books and films are worth watching and reading to the end, some are frankly bad. Leave him the right to throw a book he doesn't like.

    4. The right to reread. No need to tell him: "Why are you reading the same thing for the fifth time, it would be better to learn something new." Better be glad that the child liked the characters and the plot of the book. You can advise him a book of the same genre, or another book by this author. But do not forbid him to reread his favorite stories.

    5. The right to read anything. There are many rules and prohibitions in the life of a student. If you want a book to be fun and entertainment for a child (and this is the only way to love reading in childhood), let him read without any system.

    6. The right to bovarism (enthusiastically elevated attitude to what is read, unwillingness to see the line between fantasy and reality). Teenagers often divide the world into black and white, they love pathos, they are prone to maximalism - this is a necessary stage of development. Don't make fun of him for it.

    7. The right to read anywhere. If a child grabs a book in transport, for food or in the toilet, it means that he really loves to read. Of course, this is not always good for digestion and eyes, but it betrays a real passionate reader.

    9. The right to "stick". To fish out the first book that came across from the shelf, open it to any page and stick for a minute. Maybe the passage you see will interest your child so much that later the book will be read from cover to cover.

    10. The right to remain silent about what is read. Perhaps the child does not want to discuss the book he has read with you, and this is normal. No need to pull out of him what he considers secret or is not ready to discuss. This does not mean that the book did not cause any thoughts in him.

    Books meet a person from an early age and accompany him throughout his life. Many centuries ago, before the invention of paper, books were made from birch bark (birch bark), then from parchment (thin animal skin).

    Ancient books were large and heavy. They took up a lot of space. To whom the production of one book took a lot of effort and expense.
    Educator: Guys, what is the book about? (children's answers)
    Books give people a huge world, tempting, interesting. The book surprises readers with different genres. Fairy tales, stories, stories, epics, poems, nursery rhymes, proverbs, sayings. Books carefully store the wisdom of the people.
    Mystery:

    Not a bush, but with leaves,
    Not a shirt, but sewn
    Not a person, but tells.

    Educator: Guys, what else do we know about books? Among the people, people who could read were respected and revered. The Russian people have composed many proverbs and sayings about the book.

    You will lead with the book - you will gain your mind.

    The book is your friend - without it, as without hands.
    Without a book, it's like without the sun, and the windows are dark during the day.

    Educator: Tell me guys, where are the books stored? (children's answers)
    Educator: Everyone has their favorite books at home, which are neatly placed on the bookshelves. But imagine that there are a lot of books accumulated. And they don't fit in the house anymore.
    Where, then, should we store the books? (children's answers)
    Educator: It turns out that our faithful friends live in a special house called the library.

    What is a library? (Children's answers) Who was in the library?
    Educator: The library is a place of careful storage of books. But the books in the library are not only stored, but also given out to read at home. A person who comes to the library to get a book is called a reader.
    A poem about the library

    One hundred miracles for a man
    Save the library!
    Shelves line the walls
    Waiting for change.
    Books are interesting
    famous writers,
    exhibitions, museums,
    Miracles, tricks.
    The team is kindhearted
    Waiting for readers, of course.
    little kids -
    For those who love books!

    Educator: For each person in the library, a special document is created - a reader's form. In the form, write down: last name, first name and address of the reader. The form will mark those books that the reader chooses for home reading, indicating the number of return of the book.

    In the library, all books are stored on special shelves. These are such big bookshelves, from floor to ceiling.

    Educator: Guys think and tell me what is the name of the profession of people who work in the library? (children's answers)
    Educator: The profession of a person who works in a library and helps children find interesting books is called a librarian.

    The library has two large halls:
    The first hall is called a subscription. A special place where children, with their parents, choose what they want to read, and then they take the book they like home for a while.
    The second room is called the reading room. Think and tell me why? (children's answers)
    The reading room is a place where children can take an interesting book and read it without taking it outside the library. In this hall, the rules of silence are observed so as not to disturb the readers.
    The library is a socially significant place, so you need to be able to follow the rules of conduct. What do you think should not be done in the library? (children's answers)

    Educator: DO NOT talk loudly, run, shout and play;
    DO NOT tear, throw or soil books;
    DO NOT draw or write in books;
    DO NOT bend and crumple the pages of books;
    DO NOT tear out sheets;
    DO NOT cut pictures from books
    Educator: Tell me guys, how should you treat books correctly? (children's answers)
    Educator: Books must be treated with care. Library books are read by different children. These books pass from child to child, and therefore you need to try to keep the book clean and tidy after you.

    You must remember the rule: read a book, return it to the library.

    Educator: And what should we do if suddenly we get a book with a torn page? (children's answers)

    Educator:

    Let's not lose heart, friends
    We will get transparent glue.
    Let's work with our hands
    Let's fix the book ourselves!

    Educator: Guys, today we have learned a lot of new and interesting things about the wonderful world of books. I hope you guys will be true friends of books! And remember, the doors of the children's library are always open for little readers, that is, for you!
