    Perm State University Institute of Oil and Gas. Perm National Research Polytechnic University. Branch in Tchaikovsky
    The Institute of Oil and Gas is a structural division of the Perm National Research Polytechnic University. The Institute was created in 2003 based on the decision of the Academic Council of Perm State Technical University and order No. 55-O dated October 31, 2003. The opening of the Institute took place on February 18, 2004 with the participation of the President of the Oil Company LUKOIL V.Yu. Alekperov, Governor of the Perm Region Yu.P. Trutnev (now the Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation) and the rector of Perm State Technical University V.Yu. Petrova (now president of PNIPU).

    The goals of the Institute are:

    • training and retraining of qualified personnel for enterprises of NK LUKOIL, as well as for other companies and enterprises in the oil and gas industry;
    • coordination of joint activities of educational institutions, scientific institutes and enterprises in the field of primary, secondary, higher and additional professional education under programs related to the search, exploration, production, transportation and processing of oil and gas;
    • organization of scientific research on oil and gas problems;
    • development of the material and technical base of the university.
    To achieve the goals of its activities, the Institute interacts with faculties, departments and other departments of PNRPU. The Institute coordinates and interacts between the faculties and departments of PNRPU, on the one hand, and organizations, enterprises and leading higher education institutions in the oil and gas industry, on the other hand.

    Perm is rightfully considered one of the largest educational centers in our country. There are a huge number of educational institutions of various fields located here. And, of course, technical sciences are especially highly valued in the Urals. For more than 50 years, Perm University, whose faculties will be described in our article, has been training students in the most current applied specialties.

    History of University

    This university dates back to 1953. It was then that the USSR Ministry of Culture decided to open a higher educational institution in the Kama region. In the early years, Perm was called the Mining Institute. He was supposed to provide the region with engineers who specialized in the coal industry. At first, the educational institution had neither its own building nor dormitories. Classes were held in a construction technical school, where a small area was rented. The construction of its own building began only in 1955 on Oktyabrskaya Square. The main specialization of the university was the mining industry.

    In 1960, the institute was merged with several other educational institutions in the Kama region. Among them, for example, was the technical faculty of Perm State University. The Mechanical Engineering Institute was also attached to it. In the same decade, new faculties began to open that taught students construction, architecture, and chemistry. In the 70s, the institute grew actively. Beyond the Kama, construction began on a huge student complex, which, in fact, became a new urban microdistrict. Its construction was completed only in 1989. In 1992, the institution received the name Perm State Technical University. It was under this name that he became famous not only in Russia, but also abroad.

    How to enter university?

    Education at PSTU is carried out in full-time, part-time, evening and distance learning. As in other educational institutions, the entrance campaign here begins in July, after passing school exams. Applicants must provide the admissions committee with all the necessary documents (copies are possible) and fill out a special application. You can also submit all papers to Tchaikovsky or the large Berezniki branch (Perm State Technical University). Future students can choose the faculty themselves, taking into account their own desires and the results of the exams passed. After submitting the documents, all you have to do is wait for admission to a budget or paid place. Typically, PSTU publishes lists of applicants in early August.

    Faculty of Mining and Petroleum

    As mentioned above, initially PSTU specialized in the mining industry. Therefore, this faculty is considered the oldest at the university. It was founded in 1953. Here students learn the basics of mining, and after graduation they become oil workers and engineers. In their final year, they are necessarily introduced to the heads of the largest fuel companies in the country, which also helps them get a good job. Over the entire period of its existence, Perm State Technical University (Perm) has produced more than 30 graduates who received doctoral degrees. Another 150 students successfully defended their Ph.D. theses.

    The faculty, in turn, is divided into the following departments:

    • life safety;
    • oil and gas technologies;
    • mining electromechanics;

    Faculty of Mining and Petroleum

    Short name (abbreviation): GNF
    The Kama region is rich in mineral resources. The opening of the Perm Mining Institute was a consequence of the rise of the mining industry in the Western Urals and adjacent regions, which required mining engineers. The Mining Institute is the founder of the mining faculty, the oldest in the university and one of the largest. The development of oil production in the Kama region and Western Siberia required not only changes in the structure of the faculty, but also an increase in the number of petroleum engineers. The current name of the faculty corresponds to these changes. Over the 45-year history of the faculty, diplomas of mining engineers in various specialties have been awarded to more than 10,000 of its graduates. 14 graduates of the faculty defended their doctoral dissertations and over 120 defended their candidate dissertations. Engineers are trained in the following specialties: development of mineral deposits, geology of oil and gas, drilling of oil and gas wells, development of oil and gas fields, surveying, applied geodesy, mining electromechanics, electric drive and automation of industrial installations and technological complexes.

    The faculty consists of 9 departments, 7 of which are special departments. They employ more than 90 teachers, over 80% of whom have academic degrees and titles; among them are 15 doctors of science.

    Laboratory of Geographic Information Systems.

    Senior Lecturer A.V. Kataev
    The faculty has a modern educational and scientific base. A geological museum, laboratories for drilling process technology simulators, automated electric drives, technological process automation, mining mechanics, automatic design of electrical machines, computer classes and mathematical engineering modeling rooms have been created. The scientific achievements of the faculty members are widely known in Russia and abroad. The faculty has stable connections with leading enterprises, such as potash mines in the Bereznikovsky-Solikamsk region, oil fields in the Kama region and Western Siberia, etc., research institutes and educational centers in Russia and abroad.

    Advice for defending doctoral and candidate dissertations “Physical processes of mining” and “Application of computer technology, mathematical modeling and mathematical methods of scientific research”, the availability of postgraduate courses allows us to prepare high-level scientific and pedagogical personnel.

    The main scientific directions at the faculty are the development and substantiation of promising technologies and methods for the extraction of solid minerals, oil and gas, the development of systems, means of automation and electrification of mining and oil enterprises, the creation of a production process control system based on modern information technologies, the ecology of mining production, waste-free technology for the production of electrical machines using composite powder materials, development of linear motors for transport vehicles. Many scientific developments have received recognition at international symposiums and congresses, in the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other scientific centers, have been awarded State prizes, diplomas and medals at various exhibitions, and are reflected in numerous scientific publications, monographs, copyright certificates and patents for inventions.
