    When the holidays are after the 1st quarter. Holidays in quarters. What determines vacation dates for schoolchildren

    Holidays are a long-awaited time for any student. Many begin to want to take a break from the lessons from the first school days of the quarter. Schoolchildren are actively making plans for their free time, especially high school students who do not have much of it.

    Parents do not lag behind - many of them try to take vacations during the holidays to spend time with their children. Therefore, it is important for many to know in advance what dates the holidays fall on.

    Check out the school holiday schedule

    Depending on the mode of operation of the school, vacations take place at different times, coinciding only on New Year's holidays.

    Please select which education system your school is running.

    How vacation dates are determined

    The vacation calendar is determined by the Department of Education. However, there are some pitfalls here. In particular, the fact that the dates set are advisory.

    That is, the administration of educational institutions has the right to independently adjust the vacation schedule in accordance with the curriculum or any other internal factors. At the same time, the changed dates should not shift more than two weeks from the official vacation dates.

    Another reason for differences in vacation schedules is different forms of education. In some schools, they study traditionally in quarters, in others they switched to a more modern modular system - training in trimesters. Accordingly, the vacation schedule also differs, and the Department of Education gives separate recommendations on dates.

    Question about one-time holidays

    The liberties allowed in setting the vacation schedule is the reason that in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the regions they often do not take place simultaneously. The question of whether this is correct has been actively discussed lately. A one-time vacation would make it more convenient to hold various events for schoolchildren, including olympiads. True, no consensus has yet been reached, and, apparently, schools do not want to lose their privilege to determine the rest time for students themselves.

    Holidays in institutions of secondary vocational education

    • Winter holidays: from December 30, 2019 to January 12, 2020.
    • Summer holidays: from June 29, 2020 to August 31, 2020.

    Holidays in higher education institutions

    • Winter holidays: from January 25 to February 9, 2020.
    • Summer holidays: at least 35 days according to the approved schedule of the educational process.

    In addition to planned holidays, classes at school can be

    The favorite time of the year for schoolchildren is summer - this is the longest vacation period, when you can take a break from classes and not think about lessons. The rest of the time, the children also have the opportunity to briefly distract from their studies: in autumn, winter and spring, periods of rest are provided after the end of each quarter.

    School holidays during the 2018-2019 school year will also be no exception, and children will be able to take breaks in their studies, although not all schools will have them at the same time.

    General provisions

    The periods free from classes at school are necessarily provided to all students at the same time. Their duration is regulated by the law of the Russian Federation "On Education" and the school Charter. The calendar schedule for the academic year must be developed and approved by the educational institution.

    The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation does not set exact dates for children's vacations in all educational institutions, but only limits itself to recommendations on the time of rest periods for Russian students, taking into account their studies in quarters or trimesters. There are also schools and gymnasiums that provide children with additional vacation periods, and for first-graders, in addition to the general ones, 7-day vacations in February are mandatory.

    During the academic year, the total number of rest days is at least 30 (for first-graders - 35), and in summer - at least 56 calendar days. The mandatory start date is September 1st.

    Vacation schedule for schools and gymnasiums for 2018-2019

    When studying at school in quarters, the recommended rest periods in schools, gymnasiums and lyceums are 7 calendar days in the fall, 2 weeks in the winter and 1 week in the spring. Two additional days, at the discretion of the administration of the educational institution, can be added to the autumn or winter rest, taking into account public holidays (November 4 and New Year).

    This means that the vacation schedule for 2018-2019. may include the following vacation dates:

    • autumn - from October 27 to November 5, 2018;
    • winter - from 12/26/2018 to 01/08/2019;
    • spring - from 23 to 31 March 2019
    1. Summer holidays begin for elementary school students on May 23-25, and for high school students (except for grades 9 and 11) - from June 1. Graduates will complete the educational process in accordance with the schedule of exams, taking place from the end of May to the end of June.
    2. National Unity Day in 2018 falls on a Sunday, so the autumn holidays of the 2018-2019 academic year will most likely begin on October 29 and end on November 5, amounting to 8 days, and taking into account the days off (October 27 and 28) - 9-10 days. During this time, students will be able to have a good rest, visit museums and theaters, go to the cinema and spend time with their parents and friends.
    3. The New Year holidays of 2019 begin for schoolchildren after December 25, 2018 and continue until January 9, 2019. All-Russian New Year holidays fall at this time, so the children will be able to spend them with their families. Family holidays can be spent at ski resorts, on trips to interesting places in Russia. Throughout the country at this time, there are many fun activities for children that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
    4. In the spring, the holidays of the 2018-2019 academic year will begin on March 23, and schoolchildren will begin their studies on April 1, 2019. The third quarter is the longest, and rest is especially needed after it. The end of the school year is coming, and you should have a good rest in order to complete it without problems. If the weather allows, this time should be devoted to walks and outdoor games. Holidays will also allow you to improve your knowledge in those subjects that require additional training.

    Many Russian schools, with the consent of the parent committees, switched to trimester education, which involves dividing the study period into 3 parts. This entails a change in the rest time of schoolchildren in comparison with students in quarters.

    Holidays with a modular system are calculated according to the following scheme: training - 5-6 weeks, then rest - 7 days. Children take the following breaks in their studies:

    • in autumn 2018, these days fall on October 7-13 and November 18-24;
    • in winter - from 12/29/2018 to 01/08/2019 and February 18-24;
    • spring 2019 - April 8-14.

    Additional holidays for first-graders

    Additional holidays for first-graders in 2018-2019 will be held from February 25 to March 3. They are introduced in order to help the young student to better adapt to learning and spend the longest quarter in the study period. The same additional vacation period is recommended for students of correctional educational institutions. In some schools, a holiday in February is arranged for all students in primary grades from 1 to 4.

    Where to find information about holidays

    The vacation schedule in schools in various Russian regions during the academic period may undergo minor changes related to the postponement of holidays and the decisions of the local school administration. Only in Moscow, the Department of Education establishes a unified study schedule for students in the traditional and modular system.

    The exact calendar of school holidays for the 2018-2019 academic year can be found in the most appropriate way:

    1. Go to the official information portal of the educational institution, where there is a calendar schedule for the academic year.
    2. The child's electronic diary should also contain information about rest periods in the information section for parents or in the news and announcements section.
    3. The class teacher is obliged to provide such information to parents, since the curriculum is drawn up in the summer and the vacation schedule is approved in advance.
    4. Information about rest periods during the school year can be obtained from the secretary by calling the reception of the educational institution.

    Having all the necessary information, parents can plan the upcoming joint vacation with their child in advance.

    School holidays are a time of long-awaited rest for any student. Both first-graders and future graduates count the days before the start of the holidays literally from the first days of the school year. After all, the holidays of 2017-2018 are not just days free from studies, but also a time filled with games, communication with peers, family vacation trips. The exact dates of the holidays are also important for parents, because many of them try to to take the child as much as possible, send him on an interesting trip or take a vacation at work.

    Both parents and students should be aware that the schedule is advisory in nature. That is, officials from the ministry can only indicate the approximate dates for the beginning and end of the holidays, but when exactly the days of the cherished rest begin is determined by the order of the school. Thus, in different educational institutions, vacation days may differ, even if schools conduct classes according to the same program.

    The mandatory rules include only that school holidays should begin on Monday and not be "shifted" from the recommended dates by more than two weeks in any direction.

    So, the approximate schedule of school holidays for the 2017-2018 academic year for schools that teach in quarters.

    Autumn vacation

    Autumn vacation. End of October - early November.

    The date of the end of the autumn holidays is affected by National Unity Day, celebrated on November 4th. Since this holiday falls on a Saturday in 2017, the holiday will be moved to Monday, November 6. Approximate autumn break dates: 28.10. - 06.11. (inclusive).

    The winter vacation

    The winter vacation. The end of December - the first decade of January.

    The dates of the winter holidays are the same for both types of education - both for quarters and for trimesters. At the same time, school holidays coincide with the days of rest for the New Year - the first working day after the holidays usually falls on January 9-10. Approximate winter break dates: – 25.12. – 09.01.
    For first-graders who are just starting to get used to school regulated life, additional holidays have been introduced. Additional winter holidays in grade 1: 19.02. – 25.02 .

    Spring break

    Spring break. End of March - early days of April.

    During this period, there are no public holidays, and therefore the first and last days of the holidays depend solely on the weekend.Approximate spring break dates: 26.03. – 01. 04.

    Summer holidays

    Summer holidays. From the first to the last day of the summer months.

    Holidays by trimester

    With the trimester system of education, the situation is similar - the Ministry of Education has not yet prepared recommendations on the dates for the start of school holidays. However, in this case, it is much easier to calculate vacation time: in such schools, education is based on the 5 + 1 principle. That is, five weeks of training (sometimes six) alternate with a week of vacation. 35 days of study, then 7 days of vacation - and the cycle repeats again. The only exception is winter, more precisely, New Year's holidays. This rest time in schools with a trimester system coincides with holidays in regular schools, where education is based on the principle of quarters. Estimated vacation dates in schools with a trimester system of education:

    Schoolchildren who communicate with peers from other cities of Russia notice that the start and end dates of vacations often do not coincide. Why is this happening? One country, one specialized agency that manages the learning process is the Ministry of Education, and school holidays in 2017-2018 in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia begin at different times.

    The educational process can take place in schools in different ways. Some educational institutions are engaged exactly according to the established plan, not ahead of or behind the school curriculum. Others may fall behind the curriculum due to various force majeure circumstances.

    Learning can be hindered by a variety of factors. So, for example, for schoolchildren in Siberia, it is not unusual for an announcement like: "Today, due to severe frosts, schoolchildren from the first to the eleventh grade do not study." Due to low temperatures, strong winds, snowstorms or blizzards, the municipal Department of Education may announce the cancellation of classes. Depending on the weather conditions, classes can be skipped only by elementary grades, and the entire school as a whole. Less frequent, but also not out of the ordinary, is the announcement of the cancellation of classes due to spring floods. Most of the reasons for missing school are force majeure occurring due to circumstances beyond the control of the Department of Education.
    If there are only a few such "force majeure" days in a year - usually three to five, then there is an opportunity to "catch up" with the curriculum. However, when there are quite a lot of such “passes” - from a week or more, then the school administration has to take unpopular measures among schoolchildren and reduce or postpone school holidays. This force majeure is the reason why the right to set rest time is left to the school director, and not regulated by a direct order of the ministry.

    Additional holidays in 2017-2018 academic year

    Unforeseen holidays are a great joy for most schoolchildren, while their reasons are completely unhappy. They can appoint additional holidays or shift the planned dates for the following reasons:

    • severe frosts (at -25, lessons are canceled in elementary school, at -28 in middle school, and, at -30, in high school);
    • if the air temperature in the classrooms falls below +18;
    • exceeding the epidemiological threshold for a particular disease.

    Holidays in 2017-2018 for students

    Universities have only winter and summer holidays between semesters. Moreover, unlike schools, their dates can vary significantly, depending on the curriculum of each particular institution. In addition, students need to take summer internships. In most cases, students' winter holidays in 2017-2018 will fall from late January to mid-February, and summer holidays will begin in July.

    Can there be innovations in the 2017-2018 academic year

    Now the idea is being actively promoted that it is necessary to return to the old rules, when the dates of all vacations were the same for schools throughout the country. This is convenient for organizing olympiads, various competitions, children's congresses, etc. In order to find out public opinion in the capital, they even conducted a survey with the following points:

    1. let it be as it is;
    2. move from quarters to trimesters, increasing the duration of holidays between them;
    3. on the contrary, break the school year into five parts, with a week's rest between them.

    None of the points received a clear majority, most schools consider the current system to be correct, when they can independently adjust the vacation dates proposed by the ministry. Most likely, no significant changes are expected in the structure of the 2017-2018 academic year.

    Additional holidays in 2017 2018 academic year

    Additional holidays or postponement of holidays in schools and other educational institutions are possible for the following reasons:

    • Low air temperature- minus 25 degrees Celsius for elementary school; minus 28 degrees - for high school; minus 30 degrees for students in grades 10 and 11.
    • Low temperature in classrooms. When the air temperature in the classrooms is below +18 degrees, classes are prohibited.

    Holidays for students in the 2017 2018 academic year

    During the 2017-2018 academic year, there will be fewer vacations at institutes, universities and other higher educational institutions, as students rest only in winter and summer. Each university appoints the exact vacation schedule for students depending on the dates of the sessions. Winter holidays for students begin at the end of January and end in mid-February. In the summer, student vacation dates also depend on the session and practice, which is often scheduled for June, which means that you can go on vacation only in July. Also, the practice can be postponed to August, and the holidays will begin as early as mid-June. It all depends on the particular university, therefore, in order to carefully plan your vacation, you need to clarify the data in the administration of the university. The only thing that can be said for sure is that the holidays should not be less than 6 weeks.

    For schoolchildren, holidays are a long-awaited time of rest. Finally, you don’t have to get up at 7 in the morning, go to school and do your homework. Already from the first of September, many students count the remaining days until the holidays in the hope of spending them fun and interesting. Therefore, all schoolchildren are looking forward to the holidays. Teachers and parents of students will also not refuse to take a breather in the educational process. But in order to properly plan your vacation, you need to know the schedule of school holidays in the 2018-2019 school year.

    Why are school holidays necessary?

    Studying at school is an intense intellectual work for seven to eight hours that a student is in an educational institution. For some children, close contact with classmates and teachers is a huge psychological burden. The reason for this is as follows: sometimes parents themselves prepare the child for schooling and do not send him to kindergarten. Such children experience a number of difficulties:

    • hard to get along with classmates;
    • unable to build relationships with teachers;
    • they are strained by a long stay in an unfamiliar place.

    Therefore, the educational process for such children is a lot of stress, which the holidays are designed to relieve, helping to solve a number of important issues:

    • Rest of the child's body from psychological stress.
    • Restoration of the daily routine with a good sleep.
    • Organization of the correct fractional diet.

    Oversaturation with information and communication requires the child to be alone, read, watch his favorite movies or TV shows - switch only to himself and his interests.

    Quarters or trimesters?

    The school administration may vary the date of the beginning and end of the holidays at its discretion, guided by the curriculum. Some schools, for example, in Moscow, do not study in quarters, but according to a modern modular system that provides for training in trimesters. For them, the Department of Education provides additional advice regarding vacation schedules.

    Thus, the school itself decides how to study - in quarters or trimesters - and in accordance with this, set vacations for students.

    If the school is on a trimester form of education, then the academic year is divided into three trimesters, each of which lasts from 10 to 12 weeks.

    If the school schedule provides for study in quarters, then this implies four quarters, different in duration:

    • 1 quarter - 8 weeks.
    • 2nd quarter - 8 weeks.
    • 3 quarter - 10 weeks (for the first classes); 11 weeks (for grades 2-11).
    • 4th quarter - 8 weeks (for grades 1-4, 9 and 11); 9 weeks (for grades 5–8, 10).

    Thus, within these deadlines, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation recommends that school holidays be held in the 2018-2019 academic year, and many directors of Russian secondary schools will adhere to it.

    Holidays in 2018-2019 according to the trimester system

    In the trimester system of education, there are only six training periods (each of the trimesters is divided into two parts) and six periods of rest - holidays. The duration of each trimester is five to six weeks, the duration of the holidays is a week. The exception is the three-month summer vacation.

    Approximate vacation periods for the modular (trimester) education system:

    • October 8–14.
    • November 19–25.
    • December 29, 2018–January 8, 2019
    • February 18–24.
    • April 8–14.
    • June 1–August 31.

    School year completion dates May 31, 2019 for grades 1–8, 10, for students in grades 9 and 11, the academic year ends in accordance with the GIA exam schedule and school curriculum.

    We study in quarters. When are holidays in 2018-2019?

    Every holiday day is amazing and unique. The whole question is to organize children's leisure in an interesting, entertaining, creative way, to captivate them with useful practical exercises.

    Table of school holidays (by quarters)

    Holidays Dates
    autumn
    Winter 26.12.2018–9.01.2019
    spring
    Summer 1.06.2019–31.08.2019

    For the first classes, additional days are provided during the longest third quarter from approximately 02/11/2019 to 02/17/2019.

    But the leader of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, called for extending the summer and postponing the start of the school year to October 1:

    Our country is so huge that it is impossible to create a single calendar of school holidays. In each area, certain situations occur that affect the length of the school days. These include:

    • quarantine;
    • very coldy;
    • other weather conditions (floods, squally winds, etc.).

    If such force majeure periods take 2–3 days, then many schoolchildren and teachers can “catch up” with the program. But if such "passes" accumulate from a week or more, then the school administration has the right to independently change the vacation calendar or transfer some days off to the category of training days.
